Experience
I attended two universities, the Stephen F. Austin State University, where I earned a B.A. in Public Relations and Communications, and University of Houston-Clear Lake, where I earned an M.S. in Counseling in the summer of 2010. I am a certified teacher and counselor, and have taught mathematics for six years at the eighth grade level (from 2005-2011). I've been working as a high school counselor since the summer of 2012. Prior to gaining my certification to teach, I also spent time as a tutor to students in a panoply of courses. I've helped students with elementary, middle, and high school level Math, English, and Writing. I most enjoy tutoring Literature, Reading, English, and Mathematics. Additionally, I've worked with students on grammar and mechanics, college entrance essays, test preparation, and public speaking skills. I also have worked with students in grades 3-8 to prepare for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exams. I appreciate and value education, and I work to motivate students to feel the same. I also truly believe that a lifetime of learning leads to greater happiness and fulfillment. In my spare time, I like to read, cook, do CrossFit, watch sports, and spend time with friends and family.
